Reef Manta Ray Belly Markings Cairns Dawn

Soft overcast light falls through the water column, illuminating a reef manta ray gliding above a dark volcanic reef overhang near Cairns. The view from behind reveals the ray's expansive white underbelly patterned with unique dark spots and stripes that trace its skeletal structure. Tiny suspended particles glitter like scattered dust motes around the creature's edges, catching the diffuse morning glow. The volcanic rock forms a rugged, shadowed ceiling overhead, against the pale, drifting weightlessness of the ray. Its pectoral fins move in slow, fluid arcs, pushing against the water that holds the scene in a quiet suspension. A cluster of glittering particles hovers near the trailing edge of the right wing.
