Ribbon Eel Swaying Over Cairns Reef Wall

Soft, diffused light falls through the monsoon-tinted surface, illuminating a volcanic reef overhang near Cairns. A ribbon eel emerges from a dark crevice in the coral wall, its elongated body curving gently in the current. The fish appears as a dark silhouette against the bright, clear water, its slender form against the rough, porous texture of the black rock. Tiny bubbles rest on the coral surface, and slow-moving ripples distort the light above. The eel's fins ripple subtly as it hovers in the suspended calm. A faint shadow stretches across the uneven reef floor beneath the creature.
