Hard coastal glare falls through the water surface, turning the diver into a dark shape against the bright upper layer. Salt bleaches the hair into pale streaks floating upward, while deep tan lines mark the skin where a suit once blocked the sun. The figure rests beneath a jagged reef ledge in the tropical shallows near Cairns. Tiny suspended particles glitter in the water column, catching the midday light in a chaotic shimmer. Fine sand grains settle on the rocky floor below, illuminated by shafts of light breaking through surface ripples. The shadowed form anchors the scene beside the floating debris.
