Reef Manta Ray Over Volcanic Reef Cairns

Sunlight fractures through the water surface, casting shifting dappled patterns across the pale, spotted underbelly of a massive reef manta ray. The creature glides horizontally beneath a dark, jagged volcanic reef overhang, its broad pectoral fins undulating with slow grace. Fine suspended particles glitter in the blue column, catching the late-afternoon rays like scattered diamonds. The water holds a still, deep blue hue that contrasts with the rough, black texture of the rock face below. Small schools of silver fish dart near the rock crevices. One beam of light illuminates the ray's smooth skin against the shadowed reef floor.
