Late Morning Light in Abandoned Belarus Asylum Corridor in inside a ruined hospital wing open to drafts in Belarus

Late Morning Light in Abandoned Belarus Asylum Corridor

by Peyton French

Pale yellow plaster walls line a long, straight corridor where broad skylight floods the space from above. Peeling murals in faded blues and ochres rest on the upper sections, revealing layers of grey undercoat beneath. The floor is covered in fine, dry dust that catches the light, creating a soft haze along the baseboards. Drafts stir the thin air, moving loose strips of wallpaper that hang like ribbons against the concrete. Wooden doors with glass panes stand slightly ajar, their frames worn to a dull brown. Clean surfaces dominate the scene, with no scattered debris, only the slow accumulation of time. A deep shadow falls across the far end of the hall where the light begins to fade.
