Dilapidated Hotel Corridor with Drifted Plaster and Sea Wind in along a derelict corridor with peeled paint and pooled water in Marseille

Dilapidated Hotel Corridor with Drifted Plaster and Sea Wind

by Owen Ward

Muted gray light falls through heavy, translucent curtains lining the far end of a derelict hotel corridor in Marseille. Thick layers of drifted plaster dust coat the floor, accumulating against the baseboards where the paint has peeled away in long, curling strips. Pooled water reflects the soft, overcast sky from the windows, creating a shallow, silvery surface that ripples slightly under the weight of the debris. The corridor stretches into shadow, framing the bright window as a stark, white rectangle. Early spring air has settled into the empty space, leaving the walls bare and the floor uneven. A jagged shard of white plaster rests near a dark, wet puddle, catching a faint glint of the filtered sunlight.
