Twilight Sanatorium Hall with Floating Lanterns

Peeling emerald paint flakes from the walls of a long, drafty corridor in a ruined Wisconsin sanatorium. Early spring light falls through open windows, illuminating condensation beading on the glass panes. The ceiling, usually a flat expanse of plaster, is densely packed with giant, glowing paper lanterns that cast a soft, multicolored reflection onto the wet floor. These massive lights hang motionless, their warm orange and cool blue hues mixing with the twilight blue outside. Dust motes do not dance, but the sheer scale of the floating objects makes the room feel cavernous. The nearest lantern reflects a distorted green stripe on the damp tile, at the base of the impossible sight in the physical decay of the building.
