Dilapidated Chilean Barracks in Night Mist in along a derelict bunk room open to rain and wind in Chile

Dilapidated Chilean Barracks in Night Mist

by Elliott Ward

A narrow beam of amber light cuts through the darkness of a ruined bunk room, illuminating peeling paint on rough wooden walls. Rain streaks down the open window frame, blurring the view of the sea mist beyond. The floorboards are warped and covered in debris, with patches of moss creeping up the base of the structure. Shadows stretch long and soft against the back wall, where a single metal cot stands empty. Late spring greenery presses against the exterior, visible through gaps in the rotting timber. The projector's glow highlights the texture of decay, revealing cracks in the plaster and the grain of the weathered wood. A faint reflection of the light dances on a puddle near the threshold.
