Warm string lights hang loosely across the high, peeling ceiling of a Lashio barracks hall, casting amber pools against walls stained by decades of dry heat. Broken window frames frame the deepening blue twilight outside, while fine dust motes drift slowly through the illuminated beams. The floor is cracked concrete covered in a thick layer of sand and dry weeds that have pushed up through the fissures, reaching waist height in places. Quiet shadows pool in the corners where the light fails to reach, showing the rough texture of crumbling plaster. A rusted metal door frame stands slightly ajar, revealing only darkness beyond, while the resilient plants sway gently in the stagnant air of the empty room.
