Sperm Whale Descending in Dawn Light

A massive sperm whale cuts a dark vertical line through the crystal-clear water near Camps Bay, Cape Town. The pre-dawn hour casts the creature in deep silhouette against a sweeping beam of lighthouse light that pierces the surface. Slow-moving ripples distort the glow into shifting bands of silver and charcoal across the whale's broad back. The water remains exceptionally transparent, revealing the gradual fade of the whale's form into the abyssal black below. Fine details of the whale's skin texture are lost in shadow, leaving only the powerful outline against the luminous column. The final beam of light fractures into a sharp, jagged edge where it meets the dark water.
