Sperm Whale Diving Into Twilight Abyss in in Queensland

Sperm Whale Diving Into Twilight Abyss

by Roy Bryan

Dusky blue light falls through exceptionally clear water, illuminating a massive sperm whale descending into the deep. The creature's rough, gray skin glistens under the fading surface glow, its large head and prominent forehead catching suspended particles that drift like slow snow. Tiny bubbles rest on the skin near the blowhole, rising lazily toward the rippled surface above. The water remains still except for gentle undulations at the top, where the last hints of twilight mix with the darkening depths. One scar runs along the whale's flank, marking a history of survival in these Queensland waters.
