Sperm Whale Tail Rising at Sunset Near Cape Town
Golden hour light washes over the deep blue ocean near a kelp-fringed shelf off Cape Town. A massive sperm whale tail flukes upward, its dark, textured skin catching the fading sun. The water remains exceptionally clear, revealing the sheer scale of the fluke against the horizon. Slow-moving surface ripples distort the light, creating shimmering patterns across the wet stone of the whale's back. Long strands of brown kelp float near the surface, anchored to the shelf below. The sky transitions from soft orange to slate gray as night approaches.
