Roll Cloud Stretching Over Cape Town Beach Dawn in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads near Cape Town

Roll Cloud Stretching Over Cape Town Beach Dawn

by Lauren Larson

Golden dawn light spills across a flat sandy beach where a massive, cylindrical roll cloud hugs the horizon. The cloud's underside appears smooth and shadowed, against the bright, dusty orange glow of the rising sun above. Behind the formation, a dense wall of stacked thunderheads rises like a gray fortress, their bases dark and heavy against the pale sky. The sand stretches wide and empty, marked only by faint, wet footprints near the water's edge. Low-hanging mist rests on the dunes, softening the transition between land and sea. One wave breaks gently, its white foam catching the first rays of sunlight before retreating into the dark, wet sand.
