Soft overcast light falls through the water column, illuminating suspended particles that glitter like fine dust around a dense school of sardines. The fish flash silver scales as they move in unison, their bodies creating a shimmering wall against the bright midmorning surface. Behind the swirling mass, a dark volcanic drop-off rises steeply from the ocean floor, its rough basalt texture fading into shadow. The water holds an otherworldly blue stillness, contrasting the kinetic energy of the fish. Individual silver scales catch the diffused light, creating brief sparks before the school shifts direction. At the edge of the frame, a single sardine turns, revealing the translucent curve of its flank against the deepening blue.
