Hard coastal glare penetrates the turquoise water, illuminating a dense school of juvenile fish hovering beneath a dark volcanic reef overhang. The rough, porous texture of the black basalt contrasts sharply with the smooth, shimmering scales of the small silver and orange fish. Fine suspended particles glitter like scattered diamond dust throughout the water column, catching the late afternoon sun. The low angle looks upward, framing the fish against the bright surface and the shadowed rock ceiling. A faint shadow from the overhang falls across the sandy bottom, at the base of the scene in the warm, hazy light of the monsoon season.
