Silver Sardines Flashing in Kelp Forest Before Dawn

Faint starlight falls through the water, illuminating a dense school of sardines that flash silver as they move in unison. Tall kelp fronds rise vertically from the dark seabed, their broad leaves swaying gently in the stillness of late spring near Busan. The water holds a soft plankton haze that blurs the distance, creating layers of depth between the fish and the forest floor. Shadows stretch long across the sandy bottom where the low angle view reveals the texture of the kelp stalks. Individual scales catch the dim light, creating a scattered field of bright points against the deep blue-green backdrop. The fish move as a single fluid mass, their bodies aligned horizontally as they navigate the vertical garden of seaweed.
