Cuttlefish Flashing Colors on Volcanic Reef

Deep indigo water surrounds a cuttlefish hovering beneath a jagged volcanic reef overhang near Cairns. The creature displays rapid, shifting patterns of reddish-brown and pale white across its skin, standing out against the dark stone. Above, the surface ripples slowly, catching the first glow of distant city lights that pierce the monsoon haze. The water remains exceptionally clear, revealing the rough texture of the basalt rock and the soft, undulating movement of the fish. Light filters down from the water's surface, illuminating the cuttlefish's mantle in a silhouette of vibrant, changing color. A faint reflection of the reef edge glimmers on the cuttlefish's wet, textured skin.
