Narwhal Pod in Arctic Channel Near Nuuk

Sunlight penetrates the ice-scoured channel near Nuuk, illuminating a pod of narwhals gliding through brief arctic summer waters. Their pale, mottled skin contrasts against the deep blue water, while the iconic spiral tusks of the males curve upward through the surface. A thick haze of plankton softens the distant background, creating layers of visibility that fade into the murky depths. The water surface shimmers with ripples from the animals' movement, reflecting the bright late afternoon light. Close-up framing highlights the texture of the whales' skin and the clarity of the tusks against the suspended particles. at the edge is a single bubble rising from the nearest narwhal's blowhole, catching the light before popping at the surface.
