Heron Stalking in Shallow Rainy Waters
Cold silver dawn light bathes the shallow waters of a Minas Gerais game trail, reflecting the clear morning sky. A great blue heron stands motionless, its slate-gray feathers blending with the wet mud and reeds. Raindrops ripple the surface, distorting the reflection of the bird's long, dagger-like neck. The water is shallow enough to reveal submerged stones and tangled roots. Fine droplets rest on the heron's downy under-feathers, glistening in the pale light.
