Limestone Pavement Ferns Rain Reflection Sunrise

Grey limestone slabs stretch across a wet floodplain, their deep fissures cradling vibrant green ferns that rise from the stone. Steady rain creates a sheet of water across the flat rock surface, mirroring the darkening sky above. The first rays of sunrise break through the overcast, casting a soft, cool light that glimmers on the raindrops. Puddles in the shallow grooves reflect the emerging sky, creating a seamless blend between the ground and the heavens. The texture of the weathered stone contrasts with the delicate fronds of the ferns. At the edge of a fissure, one drop of water clings to a fern tip, ready to fall.
