Sandhill Crane in Salt Marsh at Dawn
Grey mist hangs low over the salt marsh where a sandhill crane strides through shallow water. Rain streaks vertically across the frame, blurring the distant reed bed at the Puente Alto edge. The bird stands in deep shadow, its grey feathers darkened by moisture, while a sharp rim of pale dawn light outlines its neck and wingtips. Behind the crane, distinct footprints press into the wet mud, trailing into the gloom. The ground reflects the slate sky, and droplets bead on the reed stalks. One feather catches the faint glow against the dark water.
