Little Blue Heron in Queensland Mangrove Sunset

Rich amber light spills across the tangled roots of a Queensland mangrove channel, illuminating the slate-grey plumage of a little blue heron standing in shallow, murky water. The bird stands tall and rigid, its long neck curved slightly as it scans the surface with intense, focused attention. Wet mud coats the gnarled prop roots that rise from the silt, glistening with moisture from the recent wet season rains. Fine droplets rest on the dark feathers near the throat, catching the low-angle sun. The water reflects the fading gold sky, creating a shimmering path around the bird's slender legs. One shadow stretches long across the wet bark, anchoring the stillness of the moment.
