Muralist Color Studies Under Crane in Rain

Steel cables of a towering crane stretch across a gray sky above wet concrete ground. A wooden scaffold plank, slick with monsoon rain, holds sheets of paper displaying vibrant color studies. The paper edges curl slightly from the damp air. Cold dawn light reflects off the puddles surrounding the plank and the heavy steel machinery behind it. Raindrops bead on the paper surface, distorting the painted hues of red and ochre. The converging lines of the crane structure lead toward a distant vanishing point where the horizon meets the heavy clouds. Water runs in thin rivulets down the side of the plank, pooling at the edge near a pair of work boots.
