Pelican Scoops Fish in West Bengal Reed Bed

Bright midmorning sunlight floods a wide expanse of wetland where tall, dry reeds stand in rigid rows along the water's edge. A great white pelican dominates the foreground, its massive orange bill dipping sharply into the murky surface. Water droplets freeze in mid-air around the beak as the bird executes a precise scoop, its neck muscles taut against the clear sky. The surrounding reeds are bleached golden by the dry season heat, against the deep blue of the water. Sharp shadows stretch across the wet mud, highlighting the texture of the bird's plumage and the ripples spreading outward from the strike. The bird's yellow eye remains fixed forward, capturing a moment of raw, untamed focus before the catch is secured.
