Derelict Fort Ruins After Rain in Bali in through an abandoned ceremonial court near Denpasar

Derelict Fort Ruins After Rain in Bali

by Liliana McDaniel

Cracked stone cisterns sit empty within the abandoned ceremonial court near Denpasar, their surfaces slick with recent wet season rain. Fallen arches lie scattered across the moss-covered ground, framing the derelict hilltop fort in a state of elegant abandonment. Soft morning light falls through a brief sun shower, casting a muted sheen on the weathered volcanic rock and damp earth. Water drips steadily from broken lintels, pooling in the hollows of the ancient masonry. The sky above remains a heavy, gray canvas, against the deep green of overgrown ferns clinging to the crumbling walls. One puddle near the foreground reflects the fractured silhouette of a remaining pillar against the overcast sky.
