Beluga Whale Bubble Rings Volcanic Drop Off

by Nicole Roberts

Sunlight fractures into shifting patterns of gold and turquoise across the surface, filtering down through crystal-clear tropical water to illuminate a beluga whale suspended in the mid-water column. The whale releases a series of perfect, shimmering bubble rings that spiral upward, catching the caustic light as they expand. To the right, a dark volcanic rock face rises steeply from the depths, its rough, porous texture against the smooth, pale skin of the marine mammal. The water remains exceptionally still, disturbed only by slow-moving surface ripples that distort the light above. In the distance, the horizon blends seamlessly with the deep blue, while the foreground reveals the sandy seabed scattered with small pebbles near the volcanic base. at the edge is a cluster of bubbles clinging momentarily to the whale's blowhole before breaking apart.
