Honeyed evening light falls through the water, casting a warm amber glow across the pale, smooth skin of a beluga whale. The animal floats in shallow turquoise shallows beside a dark volcanic rock formation rising from the seabed. Rainy season plankton creates a soft, hazy diffusion in the background, muting the details of the drop-off. The water surface ripples gently above, breaking the light into shifting patterns on the whale's rounded back. Its eye reflects the firelight warmth of the sun near the horizon. The texture of the volcanic stone appears rough and porous against the sleek curve of the marine mammal. A faint shadow stretches along the seabed, anchoring the creature in the stillness.
