Walrus Diving Toward Mussel Bed in Catalan Waters

Soft, diffused light falls through the water column, illuminating suspended particles that glitter like fine dust around a massive walrus descending toward the sea floor. The animal's thick, wrinkled gray hide glistens with moisture, contrasting against the pale, sandy bottom where clusters of dark mussels cling to rocks. Early spring conditions keep the water cool and clear, allowing visibility of the walrus's long white tusks cutting through the current. Bubbles trail upward from the creature's movement, catching the late morning illumination.
