Cape Town Tide Pools Blue Hour Glow in beside a volcanic drop-off near V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

Cape Town Tide Pools Blue Hour Glow

by Shane Walker

Deep indigo water fills narrow channels carved into dark volcanic rock, captured from a direct overhead perspective. The surface remains perfectly still, mirroring the fading twilight sky above. Tiny suspended particles float within the water column, catching the distant orange glow of the Cape Town skyline on the horizon. The sharp contrast between the cool blue of the rock pools and the warm artificial light creates a vivid boundary. Dark basalt edges frame the liquid depths, their rough texture visible beneath the clear surface. A small cluster of starfish rests on the wet stone near the center, its pale orange color standing out against the deep blue surroundings.
