Dugong Grazing Seagrass Marseille Coastal Waters

Sunlight penetrates the exceptionally clear turquoise water, illuminating a dugong as it grazes on dense seagrass beds. The marine mammal moves slowly along the sandy bottom, its gray, wrinkled skin against the vibrant green blades of the underwater meadow. Small ripples distort the light on the surface above, creating shifting patterns of brightness across the animal's back. The dugong's head is lowered toward the sediment, its mouth working methodically through the vegetation. Fine sand particles suspend gently in the current around its flippers, settling slowly in the stillness. A faint shadow stretches beneath the creature, anchoring it to the seabed floor.
