Beluga Silhouette in Durban Seagrass

Turquoise shallows near Durban hold a beluga whale suspended above a dense seagrass meadow. Honeyed evening light falls through the water, turning the whale into a dark silhouette against the glowing surface. Tiny suspended particles glitter like scattered diamond dust within the water column. The early winter air remains invisible, but the cool clarity of the water is evident. Shadows from the whale and blades of grass fall upward, pointing directly toward the light source above, defying natural physics while the marine life remains grounded. The seagrass sways gently, its green fronds against the amber glow of the sunlit water. A final ray of light catches the edge of the whale's dorsal ridge, creating a sharp, luminous outline against the deepening blue.
