Colonial Barracks Ruin in Bahamas Morning Light in inside a barracks hall with broken windows and drifting dust in Bahamas

Colonial Barracks Ruin in Bahamas Morning Light

by Ronnie Turner

Pale blue dawn light streams through shattered window frames into the hollow interior of a crumbling colonial barracks. Dust motes drift in the cool beams, settling on cracked plaster walls and peeling paint. The room stretches deep, defined by the leading lines of decaying floorboards and aligned window openings. Outside, waist-high weeds push through the gaps in the foundation, their green stems visible against the grey stone. Quiet shadows pool along the base of the walls, untouched by movement. A jagged piece of white plaster hangs precariously from a lintel, catching the first faint glow of the rising sun.
