Collapsed Balconies in Roofless Hammam at Dawn

by Tanya Burks

First rays of sunrise cut through the open sky above a roofless structure where balconies hang fractured and fall away. The low angle looks up at jagged concrete edges against the pale morning light. Damp gray stone surfaces show patches of moss and small wildflowers growing in early spring. Humid air fills the space, visible as a faint haze around the rising sun. Water pools on the uneven floor, reflecting broken archways overhead. Wet surfaces glisten under the soft glow. A shard of fallen concrete rests beside a shallow puddle at the edge of the frame.
