Roman Bath Mosaic Ruins Cyprus Evening in among toppled columns and nettles in Cyprus

Roman Bath Mosaic Ruins Cyprus Evening

by Jodie Hewitt

Steel-blue twilight washes over the fragmented remains of a Roman bath in Cyprus. Broken columns lie toppled across the ground, their stone surfaces rough and weathered by centuries. Vibrant green nettles push through the cracks in the earth, surrounding a section of the original mosaic floor where tesserae remain intact. The geometric patterns of red, white, and black stones create a stark contrast against the encroaching wild vegetation. Empty rooms stretch into the shadows, framed by the skeletal architecture of the past. A low breeze stirs the tall grasses near the stone fragments. Sunlight has faded, leaving the scene in cool, uniform shadows that highlight the texture of the ancient stone.
