Carpet Shark Resting on Coral Rubble Night

Silvery light falls through exceptionally clear wet-season water, illuminating a carpet shark resting on a patch of broken coral rubble beside a volcanic reef overhang near Denpasar. The shark's mottled skin blends with the jagged stones beneath it, its body elongated and still against the dark rock. Layers of depth recede into the distance where the reef structure fades into the gloom. Slow-moving surface ripples create faint, shifting patterns on the water above, casting subtle highlights across the sandy bottom. The volcanic stone forms a heavy, textured wall to the side, at the base of the scene in the underwater landscape. A faint shadow stretches from the shark's tail onto a nearby piece of bleached coral.
