Reef Shark Patrolling Coral Wall in Dusky Bali in beneath a reef ledge in tropical shallows near Denpasar

Reef Shark Patrolling Coral Wall in Dusky Bali

by Philip Quinn

Suspended particles drift through the dim water as a reef shark glides horizontally along a vertical coral wall. The shark's grey skin catches faint ambient light filtering from above, against the shadowed underside of the reef ledge overhead. Tiny plankton haze softens the background, blurring the distant reef structures into muted blues and greens. The coral surface displays rough textures and irregular formations in shades of brown and orange. Below, the sandy seabed fades into darkness, while faint city lights from the shore above create a subtle glow in the upper water column. The shark's pectoral fin rests slightly back against the current, and its tail fin cuts a sharp line through the milky water near the bottom right corner.
