Carpet Shark Resting on Coral Rubble in Night

Pale mottled skin of a carpet shark blends with scattered white and grey coral fragments beneath it. The fish lies motionless against the uneven rubble patch, its dark eyes open and alert. Cool blue water fills the background, fading into darkness beyond the immediate foreground. Tiny suspended particles glitter throughout the water column, catching the faint cold moonlight that filters down from above. No visible currents disturb the sand or the shark's position. A small piece of broken coral rests directly against the shark's snout, anchoring the creature to the ocean floor.
