Barracuda School Under Arctic Sea Ice Noon

Cobalt water fills the frame beneath a thick, pressure-ridged sheet of sea ice that blocks the flat glare of the noon sun. A dense school of silver barracuda swims horizontally, their scales reflecting the ambient blue light with sharp, metallic precision. Suspended particles glitter throughout the water column, catching the faint illumination that filters down from above. The ice surface above shows jagged ridges and translucent patches where the water presses against the frozen crust. Layers of depth recede into the distance, where the school thins out into the shadowy void. The water remains motionless in appearance, freezing the fish in a single, synchronized moment. One ray of light strikes the side of a leading barracuda, highlighting the texture of its scales against the deep blue background.
