Barracuda School Through Dawn Plankton Haze

Silver bodies of a barracuda school slice through a column of suspended plankton near Worli, Mumbai, just as the first light of dawn touches the surface. The water holds a thick, milky haze where billions of microscopic particles glitter like scattered diamond dust against the soft, overcast illumination. Individual fish reflect the pale morning glow along their flanks, their streamlined forms creating a rhythmic pattern that recedes into the deep blue void. Tiny bubbles and organic debris float in the current, adding texture to the transparent medium. The tight framing isolates the predators against the diffuse background, showing the sharp contrast between their metallic scales and the glowing, particulate water. A cluster of glowing specks rests on the nearest fish's gill cover.
