Silhouetted Tropical Fish Swirling Around Coral in Clear Reef Water

Late afternoon sunlight penetrates the surface of the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns, casting a bright, diffuse glow through the exceptionally clear water. A dense school of tropical fish forms a swirling, dark silhouette against the luminous backdrop, their bodies creating a dynamic, fluid shape as they navigate a textured coral head. The water remains still, save for slow-moving ripples distorting the light at the very top of the frame. Shadows fall sharply across the rough, porous surface of the coral, highlighting its intricate crevices and the cool-season clarity of the surrounding marine environment. Individual scales catch faint glints of light before disappearing into the collective dark mass of the school.
