Barracuda School Circling Mumbai Shipwreck at Night
by Martha Beach
Silver scales of a dense barracuda school swirl in a rhythmic loop above the rusted iron ribs of a sunken shipwreck deck. The water remains exceptionally clear, revealing every dent and corrosion mark on the submerged metal structure. Above, the surface ripples slowly, distorting the faint starlight that penetrates the deep night sky. A subtle ground glow illuminates the sandy seabed below, casting a soft blue hue against the dark ocean floor. The fish move with deliberate slowness, their elongated bodies reflecting the ambient light as they navigate the wreck's shadowed corridors. Rust flakes drift in the current near the jagged edges of the steel beams. The water surface above shows gentle undulations, breaking the reflection of the stars into fragmented shards of white light. One ray of moonlight pierces the depths, catching the wet texture of the corroded hull.
