Spanish Dancer Nudibranch Over Zanzibar Reef

Reflected sunlight falls through turquoise water, illuminating a Spanish dancer nudibranch gliding horizontally above a dark volcanic reef overhang. The creature's translucent, ruffled mantle displays gradients of orange and yellow against the shadowed rock. Fine suspended particles glitter in the water column, catching the light from the surface. The low angle view places the perspective beneath the subject, looking up toward the bright water. Rainy season conditions leave the water slightly turbid with drifting organic matter. The nudibranch's delicate edges blur slightly in the current. A small patch of barnacle-encrusted rock anchors the lower right corner, at the base of the floating form in the underwater landscape.
