Silhouetted Octopus on Zanzibar Coral Reef at Sunset

Green water glows with the amber warmth of an underwater sunset, illuminating suspended particles that glitter like fine dust throughout the column. An octopus floats in silhouette above a rugged coral shelf, its dark form stark against the bright, firelit background. The creature hovers near a volcanic reef overhang, its tentacles trailing slightly in the current. Behind the animal, the seabed drops away into deepening shadow, marking the edge of the shelf. Light falls through the wet season haze, creating a soft, drifting glow around the silhouette. Tiny specks of sediment catch the fading sun, creating a shimmering curtain that separates the subject from the dark void below. at the edge is the faint outline of a coral branch catching a single beam of light on the lower left edge.
