Silhouetted Shoebill Stork at Mangalore Twilight

Heavy gray clouds press low over the tidal inlet near Mangalore, swallowing the horizon in a wash of slate and charcoal. A shoebill stork stands rigid in the center, its massive, shoe-shaped bill and bulky body reduced to a stark black silhouette against the fading light. The water surface ripples gently, reflecting the dull overhead glow rather than direct sun.
