Jabiru Stork at Blue Hour Near Jakarta
Distant town glow pulses along the horizon, casting a soft violet wash over the tropical wetland where a jabiru stork stands motionless. The bird’s massive white plumage contrasts sharply with the dark, rippling water, its long legs partially submerged in the muddy shallows. A thick layer of light fog drifts low across the surface, softening the edges of distant reeds and mangrove roots. The frame within a frame forms naturally through the dark silhouette of overhanging branches in the foreground, narrowing the view to the solitary bird. Dry season dust rests on the lower stalks, while the cooling blue light of twilight deepens the shadows around the stork’s black head and neck. A final reflection of the purple sky shimmers on the water just beside the bird's foot.
