Black Skimmer Silhouette Dawn Fog Tidal Inlet

Deep shadow blankets the foreground where a black skimmer slices horizontally across the surface of a tidal inlet near Douala. The bird appears as a sharp, dark silhouette against the pale, diffused glow of first light breaking through thick morning fog. A thin rim of cool light traces the upper edge of its wings and head, separating the form from the misty water. The inlet water remains glassy and dark, reflecting the faint sky above. Dry season air hangs heavy, softening the distant mangrove outlines into blurred shapes. The bird's long, lower mandible dips just beneath the waterline, creating a minute disturbance in the otherwise still surface.
