Silhouetted Storks Nesting Colony at Twilight in along a game trail near Mombasa

Silhouetted Storks Nesting Colony at Twilight

by Edgar Lopez

Pale twilight sky glows behind a dense cluster of painted storks perched high in the canopy. The birds stand as dark, sharp silhouettes against the fading light, their long legs and curved necks defining the jagged outline of the nesting colony. Wind whips through the branches, bending the surrounding foliage and showing restless motion. The game trail below fades into shadow, at the base of the elevated chaos. Each bird faces outward, heads turned in alert directions, their beaks pointed like spears. The texture of the rough bark and scattered twigs is visible where light catches the edges, while the deepening blue of the monsoon evening wraps the scene in cool, untamed tension.
