Kiwi Bird Silhouette on Alaskan Stream

A dark, feathered silhouette of a kiwi bird stands motionless on a bed of wet stones and scattered driftwood. The ground is damp, reflecting the harsh, bright light that floods the scene from above. Behind the bird, a glacial stream rushes with frothy, white water cutting through a landscape of bare, wind-swept earth. Leaves skitter across the surface of the stream and the rocky bank, caught in sudden gusts of air. The bird's long beak points downward toward the mud. The lighting creates a stark contrast between the black form of the animal and the brilliant, almost blinding white of the rushing water and the pale, overcast sky. One wet stone rests near the bird's claw.
