Golden light wraps the wind-scoured ridge near Getsemani, where a pod of hippopotamuses stands submerged in the river. The setting sun casts long, warm shadows across their wet, gray hides, highlighting the texture of mud-caked skin. Humid air hangs heavy after recent rain, visible as a soft sheen on the water's surface. An ancient stone archway frames the pod from the foreground, creating a distinct border around the animals. Their massive bodies remain motionless, exuding a patient, predatory stillness. The horizon line glows with orange and pink hues, reflecting off the calm river. One ripple disturbs the water near the largest hippo's snout, breaking the surface tension.
