Giraffe Herd Drinking at Sunset Ridge

Golden firelight washes the wind-scoured ridge near Dar es Salaam, illuminating a herd of giraffes gathered at a shallow watering hole. Rain-soaked grasses rest on the ground, their green blades heavy with recent moisture. The animals stand in profile and rear view, their spotted coats glowing orange against the deepening twilight sky. Dust rises slightly around their hooves where the earth is soft and churned. Long shadows stretch across the muddy bank, merging with the darkening shadows of the surrounding scrub. The air appears thick and still, carrying the weight of the rainy season. A reflection of the tallest giraffe's neck ripples softly in the dark water at the edge of the frame.
